SARS-CoV-2 ELITe MGB^® Kit

In late December 2019, a novel coronavirus 2019-nCoV, later officially named SARS-CoV-2 outbreaks in Wuhan, Hubei province. It belongs to the Coronaviridae, a family of viruses that possess a positive-sense single-stranded RNA genome. SARS-CoV-2 is responsible for COVID-19 disease. The usual symptoms of COVID-19 include fever (83–98%), cough (59–82%), shortness of breath (19–55%), and muscle ache (11–44%). Some patients may have sore throat, rhinorrhea, headache, and confusion a few days before the onset of fever, indicating that fever is a critical symptom, but not the only initial manifestation of infection. The pattern of fever has not yet been fully understood and several cases were found relatively asymptomatic. Since there is currently no effective treatment available for coronavirus infections, significant efforts have been made to the development of vaccines and therapeutic drugs. SARS-CoV-2 ELITe MGB® Kit product is a reverse-transcription and Real-time PCR assay for the detection and quantification of the RNA of SARS-CoV-2 in clinical samples. The assay is CE-IVD validated, in combination with ELITe InGenius®, a fully automated sample-to-result solution.
